Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, now stained red and dripping with blood. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he’s never faced before. Searching for a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas expects the usual: track, hunt, kill. They follow legends and local lore, destroy the murderous dead, and keep pesky things like the future and friends at bay. Now, armed with his father’s mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. I honestly recommend every teenager, regardless of whether you are a girl or boy, read this chilling story of love and anger. So did his father before him, until he was gruesomely murdered by a ghost he sought to kill. Despite only finishing it a day or two ago, I am already half way into the sequel, Girl of Nightmares.

I cannot express how amazing this book is! It is definitely on my favourite books list. I admired the way that the events in Anna Dressed in Blood linked together in some way at the end of the story, and everything started clicking into place. Every character was vivid and unique, and brought something different and intelligent to the plot. The story also featured Thomas, a scruffy looking boy with hidden knowledge up his sleeve, and Carmel, popular home-coming queen, but who isn't as shallow as she might seem. By the end of the book I felt like I had gotten to know Cas quite well. Sometimes he could get quite emotional, but every time his wit saved him from creating a 'cringeworthy' situation. Cas narrates with a dark humour, which absolutely intrigued me and lightened up quite a few terrifying situations.
